'Tis the season to be skirtful...Época de polleras

Hello, citizens of the blogsphere! How have you been? We are gathered here today to showcase our array of home-made skirts, which ranges from mid-length to maxis. The model of skirt I followed was the basic A shape, which we borrowed from Tania's blog called What Would a Nerd Wear. Be sure to check it out! It is simple and chic all in one. You don't want to miss it!

Su blog es What Would a Nerd Wear. ¡Imperdible!

Down to business then. Here you have my self-forged collection. I have to say all are my favorite but the flower pattern in the last one really takes the cake. Berni bought that fabric for me, so she is the mastermind behind it in the end.

A mi juego me llamaron.

And now on to higher grounds...or larger skirts for that matter. This was my second attempt at a maxi skirt. The mustard color is divine! Even for me, a very short person (4' 11'' to be precise. Yes, I was almost cast as Smurfette, you can say it. It was just that pale blue does not become me),  the length did not overpower me or the outfit.  Take a look.

The first attempt at maxi skirting (word inventing here) was my layered skirt. I saw this gorgeous number on Harry Potter's Emma Watson and got skirtstruck (still inventing words here). Look:

Miren:

Ok. You may get a tad disappointed because mine turned out completely different. I found scraps of fabric (US$10ish) at Once (a midtown wholesale fabric district where we bought most of our fabric: prices are cheaper and there is more variety) but all plain, no flowers like Watson's skirt. But I did take the opportunity to delve into the whole color blocking movement, since when it started over there we were in the midst of winter. Everyone here is freaking over it now!

Ok.

And we can be pegged as ecofriendly. If you don't believe us, look at how our recycled fabric leftovers were of use to my cat Merlina:

And Kiarita is no slouch either! It looks like Berni's home-made skirts have her seal of approval. By the way, Berni adores polka dots so I made two in that pattern for her.

On to Berni's maxi skirt now, in the most eye-catching emerald hue, looks as pretty as a picture on her. And how that emboridered shirt matches it all! And the headband, her fetiche, ties it all up.

Hope you enjoyed the ride! See you around.

Taking it literal:

This one was a tough cookie but I finally managed to crack it. Remember the band Cake and her infamous cover of "I will survive"? Well, here they delight us with a very catchy "Short skirt, long jacket." Enjoy! And please feel free to enter your own associations, as usual.

Literalmente:

Hi, everyone! I hope you're having a good week. You know how most girls love shopping for shoes and bags? Well, I love shoes but I don't care too much for bags/purses *gasp* ;) I mean, I have a few, but honestly, I'm happy with just carrying a tote bag. Now, hair accesories, that's a different story. I love hair accesories and have plenty of them: headbands, bows, barrettes, cute bobby pins, flowery hair bands, etc... I think they're so much fun while also being cute details to complete an outfit. So I thought I'd take a few pictures of some of my favorite headbands. Here they are:

¡Hola a todas!

This headband is from Todo Moda. I love the shape of the bow and the fact that it has stripes! This headband and the rest on this post cost around US$ 4-5. Todo Moda is awesome, they have cute stuff at low prices!

This headband is also from Todo Moda... most of my accesories come from this store so not much of a surprise there. I love, love polka dots. So when I saw this flowery/polka dotish headband, I had to have it!

This one is also from Todo Moda. I swear I don't work for them ;) But isn't that pink flower so cute? I love it.

Ésta también es de Todo Moda. Les juro que no trabajo ahí, jeje. ¿No es re bonita esa flor rosada? Me encanta.

My mom got me this beautiful bow headband in Spain. She definitely knows me, that dear mom of mine :)

Of course, this headband is also from Todo Moda. I love this one because it's very spring-like, what with the colorful flowers. It's a perfect headband to celebrate spring, which is around the corner in this part of the world!

And last but certainly not least, this is a very special headband because it was done by none other than Pauli! :) She sews wonderfully and she did a great job with this headband, don't you think? I love it and love the plaid pattern, which, coincidentally, matches a skirt she made for me. What an awesome friend she is!!

As always, thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful week!

This was Berni, of B&P.

Taking it literal: This time we have the very talented Rachel Berry of "Glee" (played by Lea Michele). Honestly, what other song would be more fitting than "My Headband"? ;) Any Gleeks out there? I am definitely a huge Gleek!
