Experimenting...Experimentando

Color Blocking: Everbody, Everywear

So, I took this EBEW challenge as a chance not only to tap into the uncharted waters, in my case, of colorblocking but also of striping (not stripping, notice the lack of double T. Don't jump the gun.) and yellow garments. I have a thing for both, actually I don't, I just don't feel involved with the two. Stripes do not go well with my figure and yellow just brings out my paleness, which already looks like tracing paper no that it is winter time. But here I am, for the sake of fashion statements, trying a hand at feeling out of depth and seeing where that leads me besides embarrassment.

Let us know what you think of it all!

See you soon!

¡Hasta pronto!

A NEW DAY HAS COME

So, a brand new day will ensue. A new day to conquer challenge-less garments and unseen outfits. I kiss goodbye the old me, available for the last 30 days, and welcome a novel chapter, full of hand-me-downs and cheapsake, cheezeball but stylish items. Sending off my last oufit (sniff, sniff) and proudly waving to the 30 for 30 round up afterwards. I did it!

And in order to revive our Taking it Literal sections, here you have the Celine Dion song inspiring the post. It is all about new chances, hopes and dreams at their best. That part of the life experience never gets old, right?

Now off to some well deserved blog break. See you soon!

Walking my last mile...Últimos pasos hacia la libertad

Hi, there. I cannot believe this is the last stage in my path to fashiony self-discovery... or better yet the discovery of the lack of self style and good taste. My emotions are struggling between a no-can-do-anymore-the-same-shirt-cardi-combo and what's-it-to-you-if-I-just-burn-these-pile-of-repeats-so-I-don't-see-them-no-more? Is that a normal symptom of the 30 for 30 overdose? Guess it'll have to do for now, that is, until tomorrow, the daunting 30th day. Scary!!! See you then.

Hola, gente.

Here I present the last soldiers of my hard-fought fashion battle.

Me, tired, much...Yo estar cansada, muy mucho

So, as you may have noticed, the 30 in 30 full-on torture has gotten the best of my stamina ... and my grammar. Which is why you will be so understanding as to allow me to write only a few words. Less is more in prose writing as much as in fashion, sometimes. Thank God I have only 5 more looks to go after these ones.

I am going to take a nap. If you feel like it, watch the pics and try to guess which one was taken at 5 in the morning. Clue: You are close if you point to the beheaded ones.

Gracias a Dios sólo me quedan 5 conjuntos y chau pinela.

It was lovely blogging to you. Let's do this again.

A little fall of rain...LLueve sobre mojado

Soaking wet we have been over here. So my next 4 outfits have tapped into the sensible and reliable knee-high boots almost on every take. I know, a nice heeled item would have painted a prettier picture. But mother nature had other plans.

I am going to shake offf the water and be back with the last 10 outfits soon enough.

Adios.

A fortnight's puzzles, plus one for the road...Una niña bonita y uno de yapa

Today, I feel like being minimalistic. Photos ahead.

Hoy me pegó la onda minimalista. Las fotos están a continuación.

So, yes. That last one outfit underwent a minor alteration. Those jeans are not the ones originally on my list. But the pair of jeans casted for this play were on the spin cycle so this understudy had to come and take its place. Rushing out and trying to fit into damp pants should not be attempted at the same time.

Kiss, kiss, blogmates.
Besos, colegas del blog.

12 looks in the bag...12 conjuntos, palo y a la bolsa

Welcome back, everyone! So, I am still here, trying my hand at 30 for 30 technique. And I have to hand it to you, I am having so much fun! I don't spend so much time ransacking my drawers in pursuit of God-knows-what, all I have to do is think of some outfits ahead of time and let that be it. It is a veritable miracle! I wonder how much clay it will take to carve up a real-size Kendi monument...

Criticize/Praise/Neither nor at your heart's content:

¡Bienvenidos nuevamente!

See you in a while, crocodiles!

Chau, chau, adiós.

Four weddings and a funeral...Cuatro bodas y un funeral

I have returned from the catacombs (thus humoring the death metaphor pertaining this post) of my fashion elucubrations to show the next installment of my take on the 30 for 30 challenge.

Feast your eyes! (Can you feel my dash of irony?)

¡Deleitense! (¿Sienten el dejo de ironía?)

Wow! Stop smack-dab right there on your tracks! I have some explaining to do to the 30 for 30 policy patrol. These rain boots were not on the original list, I agree. In my defense, your honorable readers, on the day I wore the outfit in question it was raining cats and dogs and hamsters with their tiny hamster balls included. It was very much called for, as you can see. So much for a clean, square challenge running track record! One hurdle and I already fell flat on my face. But, this death among our clothing match ups shall not rain on my parade and here I present you with none other than the should-have-been fourth garment wedding of this post:

Goodbye and see you soon!

Remixing Reenactment...Remix recreado

Hi, blogettes! What's new? From our end, there's been a shift in the course of events. Berni will take some time off the blogosphere. Her two-timing with Tumblr just crossed the line! Joke aside, it will be just you and me for the time being. Thus, I have decided to take the spiderwebs out of the way on a much belated inner promise of yore: recreating Kendi's remixing. I am pretty sure said fashion blogger mogul rings a bell. If not, her work speaks (in a very snarky and endearing tone) for itself. Following on her red-pump-shoed footsteps along the yellow brick road has struck a chord with me, leading me to the realization that I need to step it up in the creativity department. I will buy things on end yet will not for the world devote time to actually playing around with these clothing items in the vein of chess pieces that deserve a strategy and energy deployment. Our modern day Dorothy lectured us (for all the sartorial good reasons) about how using 30 garments in a 30-day span (marvelous idea, queen Kendi) might very well be the nudge I have been in desperate need of to become a more resourceful risk-taker minus the frowned-upon-faux paus of fashion road kill. In a thimble, I find both the challenge riveting and income preserving. Keeping my fingers double-crossed, I take in a deep breath and... let the games begin!

¡Hola, blogeras!

My 30 pieces came down (after a hard-fought debate between me, myself and I) to the following:

Twinsies!... Figurita repetida

Image 4554

And we are back! We have charged up batteries and we are now good to go. What better way to make our comeback than by taking part in the EBEW challenge? Plus, it is the most pertinent occasion to showcase our bargain of the month...who are we kidding? of the century! Zara went on sale (50 % off to be exact) and we went bonkers at the sight of this master piece of a cardigan. We could just eat up that big, layered bow! Pauli picked a classic soft pink and Berni went for mint, the new favorite in town for this upcoming season.

¡Hemos regresado!

Pauli paired the ultimate endearing purchase with a 7.5 dollar dress. Yes, that is the actual retail cost, believe it or not. Look at those tiny birds! The thigh high black boots wrap up the outfit. Oh, and the woolen hat is courtesy of her boyfriend. Love is in the air!

Berni looks adorbz in the mint green cardi. She almost fainted at the sight of such beauty! And her hair pin is the finishing touch, matching bow and all. Doesn't she look like Emma Pillsbury? She could stand in for her any time.

Have a lovely week.

Pauli and Berni.

Disfruten esta semana.

El reino del revés

Happy New Year to all you bloggers! We left our blog unattanded for quite a while now but rest and recreation time is up for us and we are back on the game. Wondering, maybe, the reason for our title, sans translation? Well, it means World Upside Down and it is the name of an lovable song that oozes childhood, warm, misty, water-colored memories for us Argentinians. And we are kind of going against the grain here, since in the Southern hemisphere the sun is quenching our thoughts with 90 degrees whilst the other half of the fashion bloggers warm up to their hot cocoas and fuzzy sweaters. What are you going to do? Just showcase what we have been wearing lately to brave the heat! Here we go.

This outfit is the melting pot of bargains past, really. The dress cost me 5 dollars, last year. It was from a store that is called "Todo 20 pesos" (The 5 dollar store). It has light blue, turquoise and yellow flowers. The Kendish necklace was around 5 dollars too, from Onda Shop, an accesories store. The bangles are from our dear Todo Moda. The practical and gorgeous belt was from a small shop in Capital Federal's downtown area, that was about to go out of business so there was a big sale last year. As you will notice later on, it is my pet accesorie now (My precious!). The button-up sweater has a lovely color and it was on sale at Yagmour, a very nice (and expensive) store. The flats are super cute and I got them at Feria de las Naciones, a trademark charity event in Buenos Aires. It takes place every year in a huge warehouse, with stalls selling everything from perfumes to shoes. It is all very cheap and of great quality!

Now this one has pants. Because sometimes we need those between waxing appointment stubble days, right, girls? The lovely sleevless shirt was a gift as well as the bracelets. I feel in love with that pattern instantly! The clear fabric jeans are great for summer time and it is even more worthy when they are a hand-me-down. The shoes are my very first attempt at something heel-y. They were a knock off, at 40 dollars (60 dollars less than the usual retail price around here).

The third ensmeble is quite breezy and fun. The top cost 6 dollars on Florida street (a famous street cut off to traffic in downtown Buenos Aires). The shoes are the first pair of wedgies I have ever owned. And of course, they were not expensive:  50 dollars vs. the usual 100 or over dollars. And the belle of the ball, that flowered maxi skirt is courtesy of my darling prince charming, who gave in to my whims and bought it for me on my last birthday. One more reason to love him!!! (I don't know if you've taken notice of it but I have maximized my accessories by reusing them for the 3 outfits, in keeping with our nature: saving is not always a bad word.)

Well, that's all, folks! Have a great 2012 and don't forget to check your year horoscopes. And after you meditate your love, health and work related predictions...¡do as you please because no one is a true fortune teller! Just be happy, which is in itself a bloody formidable task.

Adieu!

This was Pauli, of P&B.

Adieu!

Taking it literal:

So for our first bonus track of 2012, we will go back to our roots. Because the past is always the best teacher. We chose the song that gave title to this post. The singer/songwriter was María Elena Walsh and she wrote the most heart-warming, truthful children's songs of all times. And she even had some parables for the grown ups as well. Let us feast our ears and pay homage then to her and her many endearing characters! The old school way!

Literalmente:
